Synopsis

Garrett Andrews has controlled every aspect of his life for as long as he can remember. Whatever he wanted, he took, especially when it came to Laurel Hart. She was the first person to make his heart skip a beat and capture his soul, allowing part of his control to slip, which uncovered his lie and destroyed her trust in him.

Laurel now lays battered and broken thanks to Chase Peterson, a stalker from her college days, who won’t accept no for an answer. Garrett is determined to win her back, obsessing over her care in an attempt to heal both her body and her mind. He will go to any lengths to earn back her trust and teach her to let go of the past, but can he follow his own advice and let down his own walls?

They struggle to overcome their issues and soon Chase is after her again, fixated on staking his “claim” with a startling revelation that links both the past and present. Can they find happiness with each other or is their too much to overcome? Only time will tell if they can learn to let go.

 OUR REVIEW

The R♥mance Vault’s Verdict: ♥♥♥♥ satisfying hearts.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review. My reviews are my own and are in no way swayed because I have received a copy to review. I review as though I have purchased the content and whether I would be satisfied with it.

I still really liked Laurel and Garrett’s story as it continued in this second book.

I didn’t find this had such a ‘page turner’ air about it like the first book did, the story throughout book 2 seemed more comfortable and a gentler pace. Revolving mostly around both of them but especially Garrett coming to terms with the past and letting himself feel and take a risk. This is a big part of this book.

The intimate scenes were very sexy as in book 1 and again it wasn’t page after page of sexual encounters, although there did seem more in book 2. Garrett’s character seemed to go into overdrive with his dominant, alpha controlling ways but also he had such a sweet sensitive side, he was constantly throwing Laurel through a loop leaving her reeling as to what his feelings were or indeed if he had any!

Chase is forever in the background, he’s an enigma, constantly thwarting their attempts to find him. It was lovely to see Grace and Jonathan getting to know each other better. I’m not sure at Laurel’s parents, I’m at a loss as to whether to like them or dislike like them if they could call their daughter a liar and not support her….. I felt very mixed on how I was suppose to understand their characters.

I will definitely read book 3 to see what happens next, book 2 isn’t a cliffhanger per se but it leaves you wanting closure on a few things.
